Big Cypress Circus

I’m intrigued by the visual effects and textures that can be created with pastel on paper. This piece represents and effort to step away from realistic rendering in favor of capturing a sense of place with color and contrast. In certain areas dry pastel was applied and then washed and brushed with solvents and water to act as a formal transition between the white paper and bold forms created with high chroma shapes.
